What's this about skinheads and symbols?

I just got off the phone with my dear sister and she explained to me that a teacher in her son's school (he's in sixth grade) talked to him about wearing a certain t-shirt to school. It has a Celtic cross on it. Also a letter came home to all parents with a message written by students that explained and warned that the cross (and something else, was it a letter "F") has some kind of KKK connection and should not be worn to school. My sister said they bought this t-shirt with a cross and it also says "No Fear" on it. Now wouldn't the makers of the "No Fear" logo refuse to spread skinhead/aryan logos?

We homeschool so I'm out of the loop, but I haven't read anything in our local newspaper about this. Is the school just being extra cautious to deter potential violence or other racial problems? The school is in southern California. Any info would be appreciated to get me up to speed.

I live about 20 min for the place that the KKK was started post Civil War. They are no way as strong as they were even 20 years ago. I remember actually seeing a cross burning years ago. Scary. I don't know about the Celtic cross, I don't think it has anything to do with the KKK. And the brand No Fear, has no relation here to the KKK. We just think anyone related to the KKK are a bunch of uneducated idiots. Schools get on tangents and just go so overboard sometimes. Maybe that is all it is but the California has more gangs than we have here. Maybe hopefully, it will blow over. Maybe it was because it is a religious symbol.

You are so right that perhaps because it's a religious symbol it has to go. I don't know why that didn't occur to me!

I bet you're right about the school going overboard too. I did some research last night, went to the Antidefamation League site and found a list of symbols. Actually if it has a swastika or drop of blood in the middle of the cross it's definitely a skinhead symbol, but of course my nephew had only the plain iron cross. So I also found out in 1998 in her city five skinheads attacked a college student. My conclusion from afar - the school is being extra careful. I don't fault them for that! Thanks for your reply bobcat. :)

I see nothing wrong with anyone wearing a Celtic cross and being proud of their Celtic heritage.

Its not a sin to be white!!!!
