Which came first, the title or the SAHW?

Last night I attended my husband's work Christmas party. I sat with the CEO, CFO, CTO, COO (Chief operations officer, I didn't know that acronym, I had to ask), Creative Director, Marketing Director and their wives. Near the end of the evening it was just we wives chatting mostly about kids. I made the observation that even though all the wives were intelligent, educated and accomplished women, not a single one (except me), woh. They are all SAHM's.

Any thoughts on why that might be? I have my own opinion but I'd like to hear from everyone else first. Do you think they sah because of their husbands jobs or their husbands have their jobs because the wives stay home? Or doesn't it matter?

I have to agree with you. My commute is 50 minutes each way (unless there is an accident or bad weather then all bets are off!). I leave the house at 6 a.m. and get home at 4 p.m. I work those hours thanks to the flexibility of my board of directors, and to avoid the real crunch commute times. Regardless its an 8 hour day with @2 hours driving time.

I work from home 2 days a week. On those days I'll have an extra few hours with the twins.

It's not crowded at 9:00 on a Sunday morning. But then again, I'm a heathen who doesn't go to church.

<> Oh, I don't know. Maybe you can tell us why you bully WOHMs? Why are you so nasty and narrow-minded about women who WOH? It shows in every single one of your posts.

Since when does WOH FT mean working all day?"

Full time means @40 hours work a week. So, how can you work full time, and not generally work most, if not all day?

I never have any problems finding time to visit the library, museums or parks and I WOH FT, and have a 2.5 hour commute."

What? I find that really *really* hard to believe. You must be super woman. I work 3x a week from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. and have a 50 min commute each way. That means I'm essentially out of pocket from 5.30 a.m. - 4 p.m. or so those days. I certainly am not going to have time to visit the "library, museums or parks" on those days. The other 2 days I work from home from around 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. I also make dinner for myself and my husband, breast feed and/or pump milk for twins. Sorry, but there would be no way on Gods green earth I'd have time for the things you describe except on weekends.

<<< I consider teaching a part time job anyway. I know the hours and number of days they work, it's nothing like what I used to work, that's for sure.>>>> thats a really ugly thing to say. the job is not all about the hours put in, or has that not occurred to you. most of the high level execs in my corp sit around big tables and talk all day long. i dont care if they are there 10hrs a day, they dont work as hard as i do in my 8. and all the "business lunches" that last two and three hours, and the cocktail parties, and travel, and company cars and free membership to the company gym while all the grunts have to pay full price..... blah, blah, blah. they have it waaaaaaay easier than teachers imo! oh, then they tell their employees, "we made 6 billion this year, but we dont have any money for raises". yeah, i looooove those stuffed shirts.

apparently you have never been very close to a teacher.....like when she is grading papers at 11 at night, or at the beach during spring break, or getting the gazillion reports together on each kid in triplicate(BEFORE COMPUTERS!), and making sure every single report card is as accurate as possible as this effects the childs life....all weekend long for three weekends in a row. what a crappy attitude about teachers. yes there are lousy ones out there, but it has been my experience, 90% do care, and put in way more hours than the 8:30 - 3:00 when *you* see them.

Well, I am sorry if I come across that way.Where have I bullied a wohm or been narrow -minded to one?I know I've been nasty to some of the militant wohms who have made snotty comments re: sahms being lazy, bad mothers, welfare recipients, princesses, unintelligent, but I hardly dislike wohms as a group.I'd be pretty lonely if I dismissed any of them as friends, lol.
