Which came first, the title or the SAHW?

Last night I attended my husband's work Christmas party. I sat with the CEO, CFO, CTO, COO (Chief operations officer, I didn't know that acronym, I had to ask), Creative Director, Marketing Director and their wives. Near the end of the evening it was just we wives chatting mostly about kids. I made the observation that even though all the wives were intelligent, educated and accomplished women, not a single one (except me), woh. They are all SAHM's.

Any thoughts on why that might be? I have my own opinion but I'd like to hear from everyone else first. Do you think they sah because of their husbands jobs or their husbands have their jobs because the wives stay home? Or doesn't it matter?

OK. So your friends chose to go hungry rather than eat shellfish. Maybe the right choice for her is - stay home never go out.

"Go hungry" or "eat shellfish and suffer an allergic reacation" are going to be the only two choices for people who have absoluteley no interest in being more proactive about life. People have alot of power to influence what their choises will be. As did you in terms of wah/woh. You just didn't do a thing to make woh a workable option, and many of your choices made it a non-workable option.

Well, we've already gotten college taken care of, and my dh certainly plans to retire by 55. And he's "uneducated". And I SAHM. Go figure.

And there in lies the problem you suffer from acute tunnel vision. You are completely incapable of seeing any other side of an argument BUT your own. If a politicians wife networks to advance her career it is bad, if the son of a politician networks to advance his career it is okay. If the daughter of a politician you do not like is well adjusted and not acting out it means nothing, if the daughter of a politician you do like acts out she is only being a kid.

I have only boys as well, and my MIL is training me how *not* to be a MIL!!! LOL! Like don't constantly tell my DIL how "lucky" she is to be married to my son. Or complain that "my DILs have no compassion."

Oh, and I'm a "liberal Republican/conservative Democrat." LOL! Can't bring myself to claim membership in either party! LOL!

{{How about the war was about Saddam and the way he treated his people and what a madman he is?? Look at all the mass graves they've found and his regime set up torture chambers in University buildings. Then there are the men who watched their whole families killed by the Baathist party or ones who have had their ears cut off b/c they did something the regime didn't like. }}

The error in this argument is that there are A LOT of other countries we need to invade if this is the argument for war.
