Which came first, the title or the SAHW?

Last night I attended my husband's work Christmas party. I sat with the CEO, CFO, CTO, COO (Chief operations officer, I didn't know that acronym, I had to ask), Creative Director, Marketing Director and their wives. Near the end of the evening it was just we wives chatting mostly about kids. I made the observation that even though all the wives were intelligent, educated and accomplished women, not a single one (except me), woh. They are all SAHM's.

Any thoughts on why that might be? I have my own opinion but I'd like to hear from everyone else first. Do you think they sah because of their husbands jobs or their husbands have their jobs because the wives stay home? Or doesn't it matter?

"SAH, however, would be big risk with my future."

So who is telling you to stay home? Keep woh then, no one really cares.

That's why I said for some SAH = less stress which is a benefit to our kids. I have a friend who tried SAH and it increased her stress and once she went back to WOH her stress decreased and she was able to enjoy time with her dd.

Especially for those who worship the almighty dollar, and judge their worth by their paychecks.

Um, I've been saying I'm in good company and you've been arguing against that.

Knowing and being negatively impacted by it are two different things. I think kids know but they don't have to be put in position where they stress over it. I was aware that my parents had financial issues when I was growing up but I never thought they couldn't handle it so I didn't fret over it. You are equating knowing something with negative results and that is not true.

How high is too high???? You are equating a rise with a negative result which you can't do until you establish how high is too high and compare that to how high cortisol levels rise in dc. Since stress is what causes us to act upon our environment, some stress is good. You have not established that kids in dc cross the line over which cortisol levels actually result in a negative.

Which is why I plan on keeping them too busy to think about such things. I know darned well that if they're not kept busy, they'll find something on their own to keep busy and it won't matter if I'm at home or at work. I'm not taking any chances. Yes, where there's a will there's a way. That's why you don't give them much time to figure out what to do with.
