Which came first, the title or the SAHW?

Last night I attended my husband's work Christmas party. I sat with the CEO, CFO, CTO, COO (Chief operations officer, I didn't know that acronym, I had to ask), Creative Director, Marketing Director and their wives. Near the end of the evening it was just we wives chatting mostly about kids. I made the observation that even though all the wives were intelligent, educated and accomplished women, not a single one (except me), woh. They are all SAHM's.

Any thoughts on why that might be? I have my own opinion but I'd like to hear from everyone else first. Do you think they sah because of their husbands jobs or their husbands have their jobs because the wives stay home? Or doesn't it matter?

LOL, nope. You need to do more than just have someone at home. A lot more. Where I grew up, some of the kids who got into the most trouble had SAHM's. My mom made sure I was too darned busy to find time to get into trouble. I hated her for it but, you know, she had something there.

No, I've been arguing against your insistance that woh is always beneficial and that sah can NEVER be beneficial to a family/child. I will continue to say it-it TOTALLY depends on the family in question. If you think I am arguing that there is anything wrong with woh, you might want to put on your reading glasses.

I'll second machine washable only. I hated dry cleaning my clothes when we had to dress up. Now that we're casual, I have NOTHING hanging in my closet that has to be routinely cleaned with solvents. It's all machine wash and permanent press. I don't iron either.

But didnt you say you were going to let your oldest be latchkey??? I seem to recall you were considering that. You have also said that part of the reason you were considering a career change is because you DO want to be home more during the teen years.

So which is it?

Again, what evidence do you have that SAH is better? You know, what differences will we see in our kids?

If you think sitting down for dinner and going to church is enough either, you are kidding yourself. And you were BUSY because you had to take care of your younger siblings. I think that had more to do with necessity that any great *plan* to keep you busy, dont you?

And again, where did I say one ONLY had to have someone at home to keep a child out of trouble??????????????????????

Nope. A big part of Yamaha's teaching revolves around the group experience. I'd have to be trained in how to teach young children, have a studio filled with keyboards and a dozen of my dd's little friends to teach too to duplicate the experience, lol.

Find one post where I said WOH is ALWAYS beneficial!!! I have said that, statistically speaking, the current class of WM's is positively impacting their family finances and they are.
