what do you consider to be the bare minimum students should know and/or be able to do before graduating high school? Basically, what are the basics?

since her dad is a math genius I figure he's got math covered at his house LOL... between us we'll muddle through the sciences
I can't wait until she hits her poli sci courses though - I'm a political junkie and that should be great fun to discuss with her.
No math, science or history that is not related to theater.
I would prefer a more rounded child -
Write a persuasive and informative essay.
Conduct an experiment.
Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and solve algebraic equations
Engage in an art form (music, painting, theatre, pottery, etc)
Basic biology
Basic chemistry
Basic physics
Understand U.S. and World history, including current events
Speak a foreign language conversationally
