opinion to DIFFER. What I mean is--is there anyone on this board or in real life whose opinion/reasoning/debating/facts started to make your thinking more to the middle? As in if you thought sah or woh was best & then after some discussion/thought, you began to think that whatever is best for each family--really there is no one best way, etc.

We just really needed a new thread here!!!!!!!!

In that case, I really don't get why they can't have bread after lunch.

Yeah, I know. But, it is as close to camping as I will ever get. We did a tent one year and I absolutely hated it. The campground we stay at is not really "roughing it" either. It has bikes for rent, huge pool, dance hall, snack bar. But, it is a lot of fun. We hate the beach.

It's really getting old this insinuation that the in order for a child to have a work ethic is for both parents to have paying jobs.

Two pieces of bread= 2 servings
2 cups of cheerios=2 servings
1 bowl of oatmeal= 2 servings
2 pieces of cheese toast for breakfast= 2 servings
1 plate of spaghetti for dinner= 2 servings

Sorry but if my children eat cheerios in the morning and a sandwich for lunch they have had 4 servings. So YES they are covered.

Sigh...I thought I went over this. As a general rule we don't have a bread with dinner. Sometimes we might have pizza for dinner, or if we have soup and sandwiches. It just isn't a routine for dinner. We usually eat a meat and 2-3 vegetables. I just don't make dinner rolls with dinner, or have a meal that requires bread after lunch often. It really isn't this huge deal.

Do you guys really count the servings per day that closely...wow! I just give them a balanced meal and let them snack on healthy stuff. I never count the servings.

Okay, bad mother award here.

No we don't count the servings. It is just in the debate here. My children have issues when it comes to eating. One with dysphagia and the other with acid reflux disease. So I do tend to be careful what they are fed. If I didn't have these issues it wouldn't be even thought about. I am lucky my kids enjoy cheerios instead of sugar cereals (They didn't get that from me LOL) and they do not like white bread.

Okay, I do not feel so bad now. My kids hate white bread, too. and they love Kix and Cheerios. Of course, I love Apple Jacks but no one will eat them but me. I was more aware of what my youngest always ate b/c she was so small and hardly gaining weight. She eats like a horse now.

I just finished making breakfast. My little one just ate a Oatmeal Raisin cereal bar, and a bowl of cheerios- the milk (sigh) and my son just ate 2 pieces of toast with jam and a bowl of oatmeal. Then he took 1/2 of dad's eggs. LOL!
