opinion to DIFFER. What I mean is--is there anyone on this board or in real life whose opinion/reasoning/debating/facts started to make your thinking more to the middle? As in if you thought sah or woh was best & then after some discussion/thought, you began to think that whatever is best for each family--really there is no one best way, etc.

We just really needed a new thread here!!!!!!!!

"Likewise, why do you assume that they won't be ready? What if your teens are ready and in fact do choose to have sex regardless of whether you agree or not? What then?"

I assume that because I've never known a 15 year old who was emotionally or financially ready to begin sexual activity at that age.

But having sex does not always mean being promiscuous. Promiscuous means having lots of sex partners (generally in a short period of time). I would not consider my sister who started having sex at 16 and has only had one sex partner to be promiscuous.

LOL another difference. Can't live without the beach (go at least once a year) and absolutely abhor camping.

perhaps so, if you are talking about someone who is sleeping around with anything on two legs - but i dont believe that a teen having sex equals being promiscuous - but maybe you see pre-maritial sex as promiscuous, i dont. and i dont think having pre-maritial sex makes one more or less moral, regardless of the age.

Don't you want your dd to want your agreement on her major life decisions?
good question.....i hope that i raise my kids in a way that will give them the tools they need to make wise decisions for themselves, i dont know that i necessarily need to agree with those decisions. right now, although she is only a sophmore, we are starting to look at colleges for my daughter, she is pretty adamant that she wants to attend the univ. of minnesota, while i dont agree with that choice, i dont think it is my choice to make.
