opinion to DIFFER. What I mean is--is there anyone on this board or in real life whose opinion/reasoning/debating/facts started to make your thinking more to the middle? As in if you thought sah or woh was best & then after some discussion/thought, you began to think that whatever is best for each family--really there is no one best way, etc.

We just really needed a new thread here!!!!!!!!

Um-m-m, no. But since we were discussing it, we left out all the rest.

They're really crappy, despite being made out of fruit. Would you let your kid bring a jar of jelly to school for a snack? Nutritionally, it's the same thing.

I agree, I think a lot of kids have way too much juice. People think because it's fruit, it's good for them. But beyond a certain amount, it's empty calories. Nobody can actually use more Vitamin C than what comes in a few ounces of O.J.

It was because you said they *can* have gummy snacks when they *can't* have bread. I happen to think bread is better for them than gummy snacks, but I don't see how anyone can claim the gummy snacks are good for kids. Nutritionally, they're roughly equivalent to a few teaspoons of jelly. Raw fruit is much better for them.

ITA about spreading the nutrition out over the week. Otherwise, you can drive yourself nuts. I really don't get what difference it makes what time of day they eat what, as long as over time it balances out. And as long as they brush their teeth before bed lol ;-)

I guess you must be talking about a weight problem here; if so, my heart goes out to you and your little one. But I'm still not seeing how that has anything to do with how a person metabolizes carbohydrates. I always thought overweight (if that's what the issue is) comes from overeating and/or underactivity. Or else certain reactions to medications like prednisone.

i have heard that ped news as well....i've also heard of the colorful diet with children too - iow, a variety of foods for kids should not all be the same color or consistency. carrotts or corn with broccoli and meat for dinner. not green on top of green on top etc.

my kids are big bread eaters though. i think they get that from my side as i'm italian and grew up in a big italian/pasta/bread family!
