opinion to DIFFER. What I mean is--is there anyone on this board or in real life whose opinion/reasoning/debating/facts started to make your thinking more to the middle? As in if you thought sah or woh was best & then after some discussion/thought, you began to think that whatever is best for each family--really there is no one best way, etc.

We just really needed a new thread here!!!!!!!!

Yes, I did, and it's very good. Not sure how they do it, but it's labelled nonfat.

Well then we have been on different levels of the discussion. You were questioning me about my children not having bread in the afternoons and at night. If you meant children in general I would have agreed with you. You switched that on me. I understand what you are saying. However my children do have issues with diet therefore we do things a little differently.

That's what we have been talking about.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld issue about the non-fat frozen yogurt.

It must be very hard. I went through a long period of "failure to thrive" with one of my kids, so I know what it is to sweat the diet thing. You feel on edge all the time over food.

But in the subthread about the food pyramid, you seemed to be lowballing the USDA recommendation for bread and grains.

***My point was, she was using her the reasoning that she uses for her children while you are using the reasoning you have with your children. ***

No she wasn't. She just said that she was using children in general.

***logic that is avoiding foods to avoid a battle with my children. But as I said before, I don't battle over food.***

Right because you don't have children with diet issues. Therefore you can't begin to understand how it works.

***In looking at it as a piece of whole wheat bread or a package of gummy snacks, she's right, it's a bad choice for a snack.***

That isn't the choice. I said clearly that my children can have gummy snacks or fruit or vegetables for snacks in the afternoon. They wouldn't even ask for a piece of bread. Nor would I make them a sandwich for a snack anyway. I think I mentioned before they are mostly grazers. Especially the little one. I wasn't comparing bread to gummy snacks. So if you or her thought I was then I am not sure why.

It is the right choice for our children not to eat certain foods. It is the right choice for them to not eat bread in the afternoons because it works for them.

Is there a SAH/WOH angle in that?

No I am not. I said we DONT eat bread in the evenings. Brown rice, wheat pasta, both provide grains. We do eat brown rice a lot. My little one will actually pick that up now. Took 2.5 yrs but she does it now. Again my son is a huge eater. My little one isn't. For the most part they are healthy normal kids. Food can just be interesting from time to time.
