opinion to DIFFER. What I mean is--is there anyone on this board or in real life whose opinion/reasoning/debating/facts started to make your thinking more to the middle? As in if you thought sah or woh was best & then after some discussion/thought, you began to think that whatever is best for each family--really there is no one best way, etc.

We just really needed a new thread here!!!!!!!!

But sometimes I prefer chocolate and sometimes I prefer strawberry.

You're confusing "better" in the objective vs. subjective sense.

I know that WOH is better for me, but I do not believe that for every family and across the board, WOH is the best choice for every parent.

But it just ISN'T. Not all similar things must divide up into better/worse dichotomies. It's true that they sometimes do, but that doesn't mean that they always do. Let's take your 2 cups of icecream example: in some cases, one cup of ice cream will be better than the other. But not always. Sometimes it will be merely different (and not just in terms of chocolate/vanilla). Some brands of icecream go heavier on the cream, some go lighter. They use different ratios of sugar. Different recipes. I can taste two different cups of icecream and appreciate their differences without ranking them.

Haven't you ever been to a wine tasting? That is an excellent example of appreciating the differences between similar things without ranking them as better or worse.

That is a preference there as well. Whatever you prefer at the time is better than what you don't prefer. Otherwise you wouldn't prefer it.

Isn't that exactly what I said. So in your case having a WOHP is better than having a SAHP. In my case having a SAHP is better than if I WOH. Isn't that why you picked one DC other the other? One was better?

Go to a wine tasting. It is a fine refutation of your idea that all things must be ranked.

Again...I am not buying it. If I taste a wine I will like one better than the other.

Yes, but we were discussing whether full time parental care is better than othercare, in general and for everyone. Not your kids or mine.

Not to dis you snoopy, but to say something is always better is one of the goofiest statements I've heard in a long while. If you really believe that, you're in for a tough time in life!

Why does one have to be better?
