opinion to DIFFER. What I mean is--is there anyone on this board or in real life whose opinion/reasoning/debating/facts started to make your thinking more to the middle? As in if you thought sah or woh was best & then after some discussion/thought, you began to think that whatever is best for each family--really there is no one best way, etc.

We just really needed a new thread here!!!!!!!!

You rate and compare your children and decide who is better or worse?

Is TV really the arbiter of good care?

My kids are not of the age that they need to attend dc (they do go to aftercare for 2 hours a week though) but I let them watch tv when they are home. In your opinion aftercare would be BETTER than my care because I let them watch tv when they are home? Maybe they should attend aftercare for 15 hours a week (5 days, 3 hrs/dy) instead of 2 hours a week (2 days, 1 hr/dy) since they watch tv at home but not at aftercare (it's at school).

It was my understanding and another poster's that what was being argued and has been argued for 600+ posts, so why interject your individual subthread to the main thread about ideal across the board?

<<Still doesn't change the fact that things are better or worse. Across the board. >>

That's your opinion, it's not a fact.

So how and where does your subthread tie into the main thread?

You know that not everyone sees knowing what their child is doing every second of every day as an advantage. So your example is NOT a universal advantage. I think children of all ages benefit from being separated from their parents sometimes.

What is the magic of dc hours? When I worked I used to take my the preschool son to the playground in the evenings when my older son was practicing football at the same park. He got to play at the playground at presschool (you do know most preschools/dcs have playgrounds right?) AND play at the playground in the evenings. He really liked his preschool.
