Who is raising your children?

First a few disclaimers - if you are a single or divorced parent, you probably don't have a choice between being a SAHP or a WOHP, (unless you are independently wealthy and then i'm very jealous of you!), most likely you have to WOH to be able to provide the basics for your children.

Who is making the decision of what food the child eats?

Who is making the decision as to what type of care the child receives and who cares for the child? (parental, relative, nanny, babysitter, home daycare, group babysitter, regular daycare.....any mix of the above)

Who is making the decision as to the faith education, if any, the child will receive?

Who is making the decision regarding the clothing the child wears? or diaper or lotion?

Who makes is making the decision regarding the sleeping arrangements of the child?

The parents are at the helm, they make the decisions. The parents raise the child. The village *helps*- some children are lucky enough to receive more village support than others.

BTW, your "example" is one of the more extreme examples as the average time a child spends in "othercare" is 30 hours per week- not 50. If othercare is okay for a single parent, why is it suddenly not okay for a couple? Plus, - why is it the job of the mother to sah and not the father?

Who is ultimately responsible for those children?

Oh, and I have one more question, besides why it's *okay* for school aged children.

As a parent, you may be the decision maker.

So, if there is no difference for the child, why is it okay for one child, but not for the other,

So, the woh spouse of a sahp is only *helping* to raise the children while they keep an eye on the kids...They are not *partners* raising the children together?
