Oh, I'm not debating implications and I can't read minds, so I was simply commenting on the actual statement and of course the obvious that opposing views have long been discussed here, thus the purpose of this board.

Once again, no idea what you are talking about. It's hard to follow your twists and turns.
That's about all you've been debating, what you think a persons post implies, even after it's been explained.
I've had the pleasure of seeing what you post on another site. Very interesting. So, now you go back to them and blow up. :D
*sigh* another one I must ignore now.

In my experience, if a gym has any type of facility to care for a child, it's more like a babysitting service. The sitter is basically just overseeing the children. I wouldn't even call them day cares, but maybe in other areas of the country, that is what it's called.
In a day care facility, woman are more actively involved with the development of the
Huh? I don't know what post you are copying and pasting from. It's been deleted.
>>I don't either.<<
Oh, so, you could have just agreed and left the angry statements out.
nicely said.
and if we're going to separate DCPs from a babysitters by the very education and/or experience she has then it's only obvious there must be some greater cause with the DCP
I honestly have to say that of course there's a difference between the sitter at the gym and the liscenced professionals who cared for Liza for 5 years
>>Oh, so, you could have just agreed and left the angry statements out.<<
?? No, what I said is I don't know what post you copied and pasted from.
I don't know what angry statements you are referring to. Yours?
Sorry if you are angry, I don't know why.
To be fair, a mom who works outside the home for 10 or 15 hours a week at $20 an hour isn't the same thing as a mom who WAH or works outside the home full time and pays the family's bills, either.
I personally did not want to pay for full time childcare, but it's an economic thing, not a snob thing. Are you saying it's worse, somehow, for a family to use professional full time daycare, but that 3 hours a week is ok?
>>I think if I'm reading the thread correctly that the point is that it doesn't' matter the reason for using any kind of other care -- working or working out for example -- that it's a mother prerogative to turn to other care when she needs it <<
Sorry to butt in again, but from where I am sitting, the issue of using any type of child care was settled. The split in the discussion was raising vs caring for the child.
I do agree, it's a mother prerogative to turn to others for help. I just think the distinction in this thread has been whether or not this person is helping in raising your child vs just caring for a child. I was one who used raising to cover both, raising and caring for the child, but it was pointed to me that that was wrong to say.
So, if I am leaving my child at the gym to be cared for, IME, this is basically watching a group of children making sure they are safe. If they need discipline, generally, they are going to find the parent. In contrast, if I am looking for someone to help me raise my children because I need to be absent on a regular basis, I want someone who is going to mimic, as closely as possible, my ideals on morals, values, discipline and academics (if old enough).
Overall, I don't think what is being separated is the roll a sahp has. I could be wrong, but it seems like there is no distinctive roll because WM seem to be able to everything, even when they aren't present. Looking at it from that angle, I think a few sahm are trying to describe what they do offer to their children. All I am hearing back, generally speaking, is nothing that a WM can't do.
