Well, on Monday it is only 4 hours- but lets not quibble. I am not sure what you are looking for here, are you looking for my complete schedule so that you can nit pit it to death? or are you asking what kinds of things do I do that take several hours to complete?

I volunteer twice a week at local non-profit anti-poverty organization. That usually takes my allotted time on those days. I am the Chair of my Congregation's Fellowship committee- time constraints on that vary. I volunteer regularly in both of my DS's schools. I do most of the usually weekly household tasks. I spend quite a bit of time researching about the issues that confront my family. I participate in several activist type groups and go to their meetings and send my elected officials letters that take time to write. Things like that.

I don't think you were intending to be inflammatory. I just wanted you to realize that just as you weren't trying to be, but still said something with the potential to be, so possibly was the person that made the comment to you. They may not have been intending to be inflammatory either.

I feel you. The sum total of my SAH experience has been due to short periods of unemployment, and my goodness. You get the kids to school, stop at the store on the way home, put groceries away and it's nearly time to turn around and go back to get them. It wasn't relaxing. It was harder than working, IMO!

All of these volunteer things go on during the day? No meetings at night?

But that leaves your weekends free of food shopping AND without kids, right?

I started leaving her for 20- minutes 1/2 hour about a year or so ago and have increased since then -- she loves the alone time and I love the freedom ... LOL

I don't really care if someone works or doesn't. Some people are fine filling their days with housework and chores and volunteering at schools...I'm just not.
