>>WOHMs still do plenty of hands on care.<<

Sure and when you can show me the post where I said WOHM aren't hands on parents, then I will give your post some serious thought.

Take care.

oh, I just have to ask, does your day care provider sit and stare at your child all day waiting for them to need a diaper change. Is that the sum credit you give to the person you entrusted with caring for your child? See, I would very insulted to be a day care provider and think that a parent views my status as so minimal in their child's life. As the parent, I would be highly alarmed if that's all my day care provider provided ... diaper changes? WOW.

>>Caring and raising are different concepts.<<

Ok, so, that's your opinion.

OK, let's take an example that is probably extreme to most people here. I had lunch today with some Brits. At some point one of them, a baronet, asked if my dd was living with us. I answered that she is just 16, to which he came back with "right, and is she actually living with you?" He obviously assumed that she was "away at school" and had been away at school for several years already by now. Many of my British acquaintances send their kids "away" to boarding school either at the traditional age of 7, or else at 11/12 years old. Prior to that, the kids have nannies. All the same, the children in these families seem to have no confusion about who their parents are. This to me would be an example of parents who very much raise their kids, but who do not necessarily do much of the regular feeding and watering.

>>Knowing approximately how much money it's going to cost to raise and educate your child is a fact.<<

That's kind of funny because we weren't discussing finances. Plus, your emotions are fact, what is it, fiction?? No, what you feel is a fact.

Ok, so you feel you didn't have enough money to stay home, I conclude that is a fictitious statement? Ok, if you say so.

I find your statement "feeding and watering" to belittling. Is that that how you view any day care provider?

The odd part, that no one can explain, is I never said working parents don't raise their children. I never said a child would be confused as to who their parents were, but since you brought it up, I wonder who they would say "raised" them? lol It's all just inference and conjecture.

Ya know what I truly find amazing. Is each and everyone one of you is jumping to defend working parents, but not only putting down sahp, but all day care providers and nannies in general. You are all reacting to a fabrication, but insulting ppl in the same manner you feel you (or WP) were insulted. What do you think that proves?

I have not insulted anyone. "Feeding and watering" would be humor, not an attempt at belittling anyone. I am simply acknowledging that it is the more tedious part of child-rearing.

I apologize. I can't tell the difference anymore when someone means statements like that literally, others are being sarcastic and others are being funny.

When in doubt, it is usually safe to assume that other people are not complete neanderthals.
