>>convince her that she shouldn't feel like she "had to" sah to raise kids?<<

Nope, the position is she felt like she would be letting someone raise her children and wanted to stay home.

My point really was, no one react to a friend they way they react on a discipline board.

>>I don't think that a sahp is any "more" valuable to a child than a wohp and a good dc provider.<<

So then, why wasn't it offensive when a WOHM said they weren't? And why is it when the SAHM tried to explain why they feel they are, most ppl claimed WM can do all a SAHM does?

Yes, but she wrote me after that. I was pointing out how any number of comments here could be misconstrued. I can stretch any number of comments and inject meaning into those comments ... if I wanted to. I just don't think certain ppl here see that within their comments and probably never will.

No, it's not starting at the bottom that is the problem.

Volunteering is a benefit to society but it's not automatic with PTWOH or SAH nor is it excluded because of WOH, therefore, it's not a function of SAH.

Sorry but that doesn't ring true. I think there is a respect for teachers, especially good ones. There is also a realization by most people that they do not have what it takes to manage a classroom of 6, 12 or 16 year olds and try to teach them something at the same time.

You are talking about feelings & these feelings could easily be coming from inside you. It could be your unhappiness with your new profession tied to your lower income and you could be projecting it outwardly to what you feel people think about you.

Yes I know this is all arm-chair psychiatry, but it it's something to consider.

Several women engineers out of how many?

Maybe it's time for you to start finding your self-worth some way other than being a female engineer.
