:::gasp!!!::: Oh, my goodness! That's rather blatant, isn't it? Let's review what you said, shall we? I find screenshots are SUCH a wonderful tool. They're a great way to help remind people they said the things they are now claiming they "said nothing of". (it's also really handy when one deals with those known for posting one thing and then editing the post later in an attempt to claim they never said it.)
Let's scroll down to that last paragraph there, shall we? Now, what does that say again? "Is this meant as a stab or a welcome post?" Hmmmm.....well, will you LOOK at that?!? You flat out ASKED me if my post was a welcome post and yet NOW you want to claim you said nothing of a welcome post?
Tsk, tsk, tsk. For shame.

It is neither "judging," hateful or insulting to offer my considered opinion as a BTDT mother that you need not be a SAHM to raise your kids yourself, and that it is unreasonable to imagine that such a thing is necessary.
If she tells me that she can not find and/or pay for acceptable other care, for example, and therefore considers it a better choice to do the initial caring herself, that is a reason that is logical. But the initial statement is not.

I can't answer for other people, I'm more curious as to why you are responding with child care workers to those who are talking about children in general, thus my comments about limiting raising and caring for children to the under 5 set.

Well in one post to rollmops, she clearly was talking about boarding school and older children, post 596 and you responded with a comment about daycare providers.

So, WHAT are those benefits of a sah vs. woh+ dcp situation???? Because my friend was a sahm (technically a wahm who ran a dc) for 9 years and I was a wohm for those same 9 years and we just can't seem to figure out what's different between her child and my children.
Maybe you could shed some light on this.

You said it was 3 out of 10 in your former workplace. Let's face it, engineering is a male-dominated field. That's one of the reasons it pays better than teaching and gets more of the kind of respect that is important to you. You knew going in that teaching was a female-dominated field. You also knew what the salaries were like going in.
If you really love teaching, you're going to have to move past caring what other people think about your career choices and find your self-esteem elsewhere.
