>> fudge the ranking in your class a little, cum laude. magna cum laude - what the heck's the difference? <<

Are you actually seriously suggesting someone lie on their resume?

If you truly enjoy it, then to hell with what anyone else thinks of your job. I have a job that makes some people go "eeeww, why would anyone want to do THAT?" I flip 'em the bird (in my head, or figuratively) and move on. I don't let their opinions affect me in the slightest.

It is making a major life decision, one that will have a significant impact on at least the mother's life and possibly the child's life as well based on feeling. That is, I think, pretty much the definition of an illogical decision.

The point is that the daycare providers really are not raising the child, so you (generic) can feel they are all you want, careful thought would show that it is not so. It is understandable to feel that way, and I think most new mothers have a bit of bear in them but that still does not make it a good basis for deciding whether or not to work.

>>That simply is not true, nor is it logical. It's fine if they want to sah, but they should not feel like they have to, in order to be a good parent.<<<

See, when you get through the muck, we actually agree.

I can cite exactly one discernible difference between my kids and their peers whose moms SAH. My kids are far less busy than the other kids, because they don't have someone readily available to drive them around to after school activities. Otherwise... I can't tell a difference either.

>>I'm still curious about limiting to the under 5 set though and/or why it's relevant to point out the obvious that others outside of the sahp have an influence over children<<

Because it wasn't obvious to some.
