Yes, and this is why most parents I know would prefer that their kids not have first-year teachers. 20 years of being an engineer doesn't automatically make you a good HS science teacher.

Sounds like the real problem is that you weren't prepared to start at the bottom. I don't care how many years you were an engineer--that doesn't translate into being a good teacher. You have something to learn from more experienced teachers who've actually *been* teaching for years.

I see what you are saying, but I disagree. I would still say one deserves respect for what they accomplished so far, education, work experience and whatnot. Unless there's a reason, I would always give respect.


It just seems there has to be some level of accomplishment to get a job, therefore respect is a given.

i don't use the ignore button, but there is one poster here whose habits of "running up" threads makes me avoid them all together. I pretty much cruise past any sub-thread that she's involved in.

and yes, it makes reading through the board a much better, faster experience.
