I think the profession is disrespected in general.

This is an aside more than anything, as I am still working my way through all the posts, and currently am not compelled to add to the debate.

after reading some of the later thoughts on respect,i'm curious if it depends on where you are in the food chain.

i don't agree that a mom who works out at the gym and uses the facility dc is like a WOHM who must use a dc facility all day while she works.
You are only using only WOHMs who work fulll time and use full time childcare as a comparison. Not all WOHMs work full time and even of those that do not all use full time daycare.
I use childcare as a SAHM 9-14 hours per week while I volunteered. How was that any different from a WOHM who only needed childcare that many hours.
