Why does some people think women at home

should do it all? I hear this and think why should a woman at home do every thing? Shouldn't it be whatever works? Shouldn't it be whatever floats the boat of the married couple? Confused on this thinking.

If you are home do you do it all? How does your DH or SO feel?

WOH do you do it all or do you split it? Do you do more or less since you WOH?

>>>No, no, my children are half Italian, and Joey's a Libra. Sorry for the vague "he."

>>>Thanks for the Libra link!

It depends on your priorities. If making the same as your DH is more important than being the main caregiver for your kids, then by all means, go get that equal paycheck.

Exchanging equal pay now (not necessarily always) for extra time with my kids while I can get it is NOT a high price to pay.

Yes, freedom indeed.

He's better these days but there was a point that I've told my dh to make sure my MIL has some money saved up so that if she ever wanted to leave him, money wouldn't stop her.

I just gotta ask.

What was the format before? I've heard a number of posts referring to the "old format" being better.

I was responding to this comment by you:

Would a nanny scrub my toilets, wash my car, change the sheets, wash my clothes, pick up the dog poop? There's more to SAH than just playing with the kids.....

Well...at a glance (actually, at a scroll), you could see every post. Each post could have its own title, and as such, a person could choose to ONLY have a title, instead of making an entire posting. I.e., if I just wanted to respond with an "ITA", I could do it in the title, and you wouldn't have to waste time clicking on the post, opening it, reading it, clicking through to the next...

Also, it was a bit easier to see quickly if anyone had responded to your posting.

The "outline" format here is similar to the old format...but I don't use that as I really don't like having to have more than one window open at once.

THAT's what I'm talkin' about!! THAT's why I disagree with the generalization that working is harder than SAH. A 2yo and a 5yo NEED a lot!! Help with going potty, help with eating, help with opening a door, help with the computer.....it never ends until they go to sleep. Going to the zoo one day is just part of the entire week of everyday activities like that. And everything that goes into leaving the house with two little ones ain't no picnic either. I guess if you have a nanny doing most of that for you, it wouldn't seem difficult.

Actually, my nanny does

"scrub my toilets, change the sheets" and if asked, would

"wash my car, wash my clothes, pick up the dog poop"

actually it's worked his butt off. These days his schedule isn't what it was when my daughter was younger. My working or not is irrevelant to his career. He had to work the hours he did to get where he is today. He has reached the level he wanted to...and would've done so with or without me working. He didn't enter his career for the money, it was a personal satisfaction type of thing for him.

Why is it so hard to understand that sometimes the wife work status is irrevelant. My dh pursued the career he wanted to...and would've done it if I was teaching or not.
