Why does some people think women at home

should do it all? I hear this and think why should a woman at home do every thing? Shouldn't it be whatever works? Shouldn't it be whatever floats the boat of the married couple? Confused on this thinking.

If you are home do you do it all? How does your DH or SO feel?

WOH do you do it all or do you split it? Do you do more or less since you WOH?

Congrats, you have now met one. Bored? No. Uninteresting? No, hardly. You do know house wives have outlets, tv, cable, dish network tv, access to daily papers from their city, other major market areas, abroad? They do travel, read, enjoy the library, bookstores, art and museums? They keep up with current events, news, topics of interest, politics? You did know that right?

I don't know if you're adressing me, but I CLEARLY qualified my initial statment that sahm should have time to get it all done "UNLESS THERE ARE EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES", ie, twins, mutliples, lots of small children, handicapped children, etc,, etc. Obviously some people have unusual circumstances that require more of their time and attention than the average sahm. I would think that I wouldn't have even had to qualify that, but I couldn't possibly list all examples of extenuating circumstances.

All right, I can't resist

Just because one is home all day does not mean that one is bored. And just because one *works* all day for pay does not mean that he/she is not bored. For crying out loud.

And most of the people *I* know couldn't care less about the "cocktail party circuit" and whether or not uppity people like you care whether or not we are "interesting."

Whatever.

And what is it that you do everyday, since you have "the maid" to do, well, it appears just about everything.

No, most of the women I know with full time help are as uninteresting as dry toast, and their husbands are working late with women of dubious career paths. Rather then reading they tend to spend most of their time shopping, working out, shopping, playing tennis, shopping, redecorating, shopping, landscaping, shopping, lunching, having cosmetic work done, shopping, complaining about the help... you know the drill.

I have plenty to keep me busy on the house wife part. I manage the entire household from top to bottom, all of our finances and resources, I oversee the marketing, I oversee the budget, charities. We entertain and I plan, organize, oversee, and host.

Now that we have become parents the children come first. Quality time, a great deal of it, spent with them every day, every minute that is entirely possible. Working with them on educational opportunities, taking them places, sitting in the pool or sand and dirt just playing for hours.

I do socialize. One of the luxuries of being a house wife. The little extras in life.

I have interests, hobbies that I pursue. The main one obvious by my name is cooking. I love to try new dishes, new ideas, new recipes. I'm fully addicted to the FoodNetwork. Although I don't cook every meal, I do prepare a great deal.

My DH & I made these decisions for our life and for our parenting and we made them as one team.

Congratulations, but that last post bored me to tears, so I'm going to bed now. Good night. By the way, what's the going rate for a full-time, live out these days? Just curious.

It is shame you have not met and experienced the other half of men and women. Don't judge us all by only the ones you have met and their personalities. I don't have a home gym & we don't belong to one either. I'd rather read. While I enjoy shopping it isn't a top priority bar far in my life. I do enjoy decorating but it doesn't take up all that much of my time and I have way more interests than just decorating, shopping, and aerobics. I haven't had any cosmetic work done and to tell you the truth I can't see that as being something I'd consider. Although it is interesting to read or watch on tv about. It is a shame you haven't met others, more like myself, that you've only met this one type of personality.

You know what, I believe you have a full-time live out maid as much as I believe that I might run for president. No way, you don't fit the profile. You'd be more concerned about your abs than about cooking, and any wealthy, help for the help, socialite knows it. Besides, you sound just like someone else on this board, and I have a funny feeling when she goes into labor you're going to magically disappear.

Aerobics? That was your mistake sweetie. Aerobics went out with Olivia Newton John. Pilates, Yoga, maybe, but please, don't try to BS me, it's not working.

Cosmetic surgery is interesting to read about or watch on tv? If you were in the social strata you pretend to be in, you'd have a lot more to say about it than that. What committees do you chair? What fundraising events? Can't wait.

Now really, I am going to bed, Good night and better luck next time.

Same here...I love laundry that's been dried on the line, but it won't be happening here. It's not a county ordinance but pretty much every housing development/community association bans it. What a shame...I love crispy, outdoor-smelling towels fresh of the line!
