Why does some people think women at home

should do it all? I hear this and think why should a woman at home do every thing? Shouldn't it be whatever works? Shouldn't it be whatever floats the boat of the married couple? Confused on this thinking.

If you are home do you do it all? How does your DH or SO feel?

WOH do you do it all or do you split it? Do you do more or less since you WOH?

I AM debating the issue at hand, that my opinion is that sahm's without extenuating circumstances should be responsible for all of the inside housework. That was the question asked by the OP, wasn't it?

Well here it is a law, as well as most other towns in the county. This is true of chainlink fences, and basically any other structure that might be considered an eyesore. A few years ago someone put up a rather tacky looking iron fence on top of a brick wall. Quite a few neighbors complained (mostly stone walls and white picket fences here), and the man had to tear down his fence. I can't say that I was dissappointed, it was pretty ugly. I think strict zoning laws help maintain the integrity of the town, as well as property values. A good portion of the town is registered historic district, what would happen if people started putting up horrible looking structures and homes?

I have no doubt that they could get a 2/3 vote banning clotheslines, if not higher. Maybe it is a covenent, but whatever it is, they are not allowed.

OK, I'm making it up, but go ahead and call the town hall of Weston, CT and ask if you can put up a clothesline. Good Luck.

Oh god.. yuck I hate line dried laundry! Of course that is because I line dry all my laundry and I think it smells like yuck. (And no, my neighborhood doesn't smell bad!) I have to use fabric softener with a strong scent to counteract the stale air smell.

>>It's a queston of aesthetics. We have strict zoning regulations, for instance, no chainlink fences, etc., and I'm glad of it, our town is beautiful, looks like a picture postcard New England town, hey wait, it is one, often photographed for publication, thanks in no small part to very strict zoning laws.

I suppose its a matter of not understanding why so many people would have so little else in their lives to worry about that they would make what another person chooses to put in their yard a priority...enough to make a regulation out of it.

Isn't that funny? And I never knew anyone who didn't have a successful career before becoming a SAHM.

Are you f-ing serious? I can't see how you can make a statement like that after all that hoopla about O123 not believing you! Maybe you're full of crap too like she said. You don't really seem the "type" to me.

And I *don't* see it IRL. I know very few people who clean as intensly as that on a regular basis. Neither your nor my experience is likely to be "typical." Frankly, when I read the cleaning routine of the poster with the 4000 sq. ft. house I just rolled my eyes. It really does seem extreme *to me* and most of the people I know. Most people I know have cleaning people. Does that make them "typical?"

Very serious. I had no trouble answering any question anyone asked. This woman can't even say what she pays "the maid", nor what charities and fundraisers she claims to chair.

Why not? Easy questions, shouldn't be that difficult to answer.
