Why should I support someone else?

Let me start by saying that I"m new here so this may have already been discussed, but this has come up in my office several times and I wanted to get some other views of this.

I do payroll for a rather small company so I know most of the workers and their wives (most of the workers are men due to the nature of our business). There are two in particular who's wives SAH. These two are up to their eyeballs in debt. I have bill collectors constantly calling for them. That part is really their business, it is annoying but I enjoy being rude back to the bill collectors, lol.

The part that bothers me is that both wives have been in the office wanting copies of X amount of check stubs so that they can go and get public assistance (I know because they told me that is what it is for)! Why should my tax money go so that these women can SAH? I know that not all families that one parent stays at home are like this, but I know lots that are. Heck, growing up we were always broke because my mother refused to work, but we weren't on any public assistance.

So, why should I pay for a woman to SAH? Why can't she go and get a job to support her family just like anyone else?

You forgot Alzheimer's, which until recently was a complete mystery but is now known to involve structural changes in the brain.

I don't understand. If the real ones are so much better in quality than the fakes, then how come you can't tell them apart?

Me, personally, I have always owned real ones until these parties started. I have only bought 2 from them and gotten some other real things (wristlets). I think even though someone can afford the real thing, they might want to have a collection of colors that they would not have spent alot on that they can do for $80.
When I was having a party I tried to make it when my mom was visiting but it did not work out. She said she wouldn't buy anything anyway because she liked her real ones. She just started getting designer bags within the last 5 years or so. She only buys one brand and I doubt anything else would have enticed her at all.

I have to disagree. My fakes have been quality almost as much as the real ones. I have used some of them for almost a year already.
I have bought my dh cologne from the dollar store and it smells the same on him AND lasts. Me, you can't smell it after 5 minutes!! I usually get the real thing for gifts.

LOL! That is SO TRUE!!!! I can tell when my son hasn't had his meds on a Sat. or Sunday morning -- It's usually about the 4th time that I've yelled at him to leave his sister alone.

He's on Concerta now (meds have been tweaked in both brand and dosage as he has grown) and it helps him focus in the classroom. It's a tough school day for him when he has to go to school without it.

Additionally, it's a bit PITA to get. EACH month I have to call the pediatrician for a new prescription, go pick it up and bring it to the pharmacy to be filled.

You don't see anything wrong with taking somebody's name and putting it on something else without their permission?

Would you mind if I started posting here with your name? Even if my posts were almost as good as yours?

Would you mind sending me a few dollars every week out of your paycheck because I am using your name?

It all comes down to the quality of the leather.

I feel as strongly as you do that violating IP law is wrong.

Do you go to my dr??!!! I have to do the SAME thing. I can't understand that if her appointments are 3 months apart, she can't a prescription for 3 months!!!
My dh thinks she can go without the meds. I told him that he can go speak to all 5 of the teachers who have recommended her to be on them. I am the one who has to hear that she is out of control, not him. She still needs to work on her self-control but she focuses much better when she is taking them. I give them to her later on the weekends so she can go longer if we want to go out. They only last until dinner time on the weekdays so by the time I see her, they are over and she is bothering her brother again, like in the morning when I left her-lol!!!!

I personally never thought about it as much as everyone else on this board does. I guess I am not the only one either as this is a hot business. The woman who runs the parties had to hire 6 more people to help her out as she was too busy.
