Why should I support someone else?

Let me start by saying that I"m new here so this may have already been discussed, but this has come up in my office several times and I wanted to get some other views of this.
I do payroll for a rather small company so I know most of the workers and their wives (most of the workers are men due to the nature of our business). There are two in particular who's wives SAH. These two are up to their eyeballs in debt. I have bill collectors constantly calling for them. That part is really their business, it is annoying but I enjoy being rude back to the bill collectors, lol.
The part that bothers me is that both wives have been in the office wanting copies of X amount of check stubs so that they can go and get public assistance (I know because they told me that is what it is for)! Why should my tax money go so that these women can SAH? I know that not all families that one parent stays at home are like this, but I know lots that are. Heck, growing up we were always broke because my mother refused to work, but we weren't on any public assistance.
So, why should I pay for a woman to SAH? Why can't she go and get a job to support her family just like anyone else?

This post pretty much strengthens the prostitution/counterfeiot bag analogy. Since the reason there is such a big demand for prostitutes is because men like sex and many don't worry about where it came from.
I'm not disputing that it's big business with a high customer demand. You don't have to convince me of that. I already know it. What I'm disputing is that high customer demand makes it ok. The prostitution analogy was to show you that lots of illegal activities are in high demand from the less discriminating customer. And this post just makes that analogy even more apt than the original poster probably even intended. Since you've now thrown "doesn't worry about where it came from" that applies wonderfully to both counterfeit bags and sex from prostitutes. To take that analogy even further, since it really turns out to be a very good one, some men tell themselves that prostitutes are really just incredibly sexual women who have lucked into a career where they get paid to do what they would love to do for free anyway and there's nothing else beyond that- nothing at all. It's the same sort of indifference to "where it came from" that lets women tell themselves that really it's just a less-expensive version of a quality, stylish bag and there is nothing more to it than that- nothing at all.
By this logic, going to a prostitute's house to buy sex is ok because it's not the streetcorner and getting caught is unlikely.
Thanx and a tip of the hat for the originator of the handbag/hooker analogy. It gets better and more appropriate with each post.
Oh no, i do not think it is common for these drugs to be used recreationally, but they are used recreationally for some addicts.
My experience comes form working with the mentally ill and addicts. Many time addiction and mental illnes can go hand in hand.
I would think in this day we would all know that you can get a prescription for zoloft from certain obgyn's. the link i offered proves that some phych doctors agree with it.
I disagree. that is why i posted it.
