Why should I support someone else?

Let me start by saying that I"m new here so this may have already been discussed, but this has come up in my office several times and I wanted to get some other views of this.

I do payroll for a rather small company so I know most of the workers and their wives (most of the workers are men due to the nature of our business). There are two in particular who's wives SAH. These two are up to their eyeballs in debt. I have bill collectors constantly calling for them. That part is really their business, it is annoying but I enjoy being rude back to the bill collectors, lol.

The part that bothers me is that both wives have been in the office wanting copies of X amount of check stubs so that they can go and get public assistance (I know because they told me that is what it is for)! Why should my tax money go so that these women can SAH? I know that not all families that one parent stays at home are like this, but I know lots that are. Heck, growing up we were always broke because my mother refused to work, but we weren't on any public assistance.

So, why should I pay for a woman to SAH? Why can't she go and get a job to support her family just like anyone else?

So if you answer the question about how internet posting is criminal you may get arrested because you're not the Lois' exception group?

I just trying to understand. I may be slow, I'll give you that, so please spell it out.

It sounded like you were arguing that obs never prescribe drugs for mental illness. If not, I must have misunderstood.

Really? So you think people who go to thrift shops never go to handbag parties? I doubt it. If I invited one of the people who I know have used them in the past, they would come. So would friends of mine who can easily afford a real one. There is not ONE type of person that goes to these parties. You will be surprised that the ages go from 13-60 and all types of income levels.

They are all types of people. Most of them are very honest people. They are not out there robbing banks. They are middle class families who have children and pay their taxes.

If you say so. Most of these women are very smart women with master degrees.

Probably not. I don't think I would spend over $500 for a bag. I could do SO much more with that amount of money (paying some bills, saving some and shopping with some!!).

And who also are stealing by way of buying illegal knockoffs. I didn't realize that my post said anything about their income, family, or whether they paid taxes.

The point was that it was indicated, not sure if you or the op that there are certain types of people who go to these parties. If you have never been to one, you don't know that they are your typical neighbor there. You would be surprised by whom goes to handbag parties or buys on ebay, like the op indicated or buys at work.
