Will my child remember that I was a SAHM

It struck me today that she might not.

I was sure I was doing the best thing for my children by staying home with them (two daughters-3 years old, and 4 months old). As I was talking to a dear aunt of mine (whose daughter is a working mother, since her infant was 12 weeks old), I felt my defensive bristles go up.

She went on and on about how "If she could do it all over again....she wouldn't have stayed home....." Then she told me a story in which her ds said to her, "mom, did you stay at home with us, or did you drop us off at daycare?" She almost died when he asked her that, because she stayed at home with her ds and dd until he entered kindergarten. Granted, many kindergartners haven't formed lasting memories by that age yet...but still. It got me thinking; is this ALL WORTH IT?

She was using it in her argument against staying at home. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling that I am not using. My career lies dormant at this time. We don't have cable, newspaper service, vacations, frills of any kind, new cars, etc. because of our money situation. We are middle-class and have sacrificed SO MUCH...only for me to hear from my aunt that..."her daughter needs to work to maintain their lifestyle." Yeah, driving a Volvo, she probably does....

I just need to hear from some of you who frequent this board and have solid opinions one way or the other on this topic.

There are plenty of ways to break the law that people do everyday: not wearing seatbelts, talking on the cellphone while driving, speeding. BUT...fake handbags is just far worse than this.

The HS I went to had 7-12 grades all on one campus, in one school. The district over from us had all the kids, K-12, on one campus but in different buildings (one building for K-6, the other for 7-12). Both school districts still operate in this manner.

Having purse parties is illegal.

Someone holding a purse party is illegal because that person is soliciting counterfeit purses. However purchasing a counterfeit pocketbook isnt illegal. There is no getting around the system. The law is very clear on this matter. While someone may view it immoral to buy a counterfeit purse it is in no way getting around the system or illegal.

our school doesn't let out until nearly quarter to four, and the after-school portion of our before-and-after school care program closes at 6; few kids spend much more than an hour in the program. they don't do many field trips on normal school days but do take them on almost all half days and full-days off during the school year. kids in the program can at any time choose between playing out on the playground and sports fields (weather permitting), playing in the school gym, doing crafts or playing games or getting homework help in the all-purpose room, or reading or using the computers in the school library.

Ah the old "everyone is doing it, so it's okay" line of defense.

I was being sarcastic. My point is that there are far worse things in this world than buying a fake bag.

a few years ago at our ymca, a coach was fired for leaving a child who was enrolled in his class in the lobby, under the agreed-upon supervision of the lobby staff; our y feels that coaches are obligated to themselves deliver children to their parents, specifically appointed guardians, or local law enforcement. i doubt that many people on earth share your feeling that there is no obligation to supervise children inherent in pt or sports-themed settings.

<<Someone holding a purse party is illegal because that person is soliciting counterfeit purses.>>

Well, since she stated she was talking with some ladies at work about having another purse party, the illegal activity is pretty clear here.
