Will my child remember that I was a SAHM

It struck me today that she might not.

I was sure I was doing the best thing for my children by staying home with them (two daughters-3 years old, and 4 months old). As I was talking to a dear aunt of mine (whose daughter is a working mother, since her infant was 12 weeks old), I felt my defensive bristles go up.

She went on and on about how "If she could do it all over again....she wouldn't have stayed home....." Then she told me a story in which her ds said to her, "mom, did you stay at home with us, or did you drop us off at daycare?" She almost died when he asked her that, because she stayed at home with her ds and dd until he entered kindergarten. Granted, many kindergartners haven't formed lasting memories by that age yet...but still. It got me thinking; is this ALL WORTH IT?

She was using it in her argument against staying at home. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling that I am not using. My career lies dormant at this time. We don't have cable, newspaper service, vacations, frills of any kind, new cars, etc. because of our money situation. We are middle-class and have sacrificed SO MUCH...only for me to hear from my aunt that..."her daughter needs to work to maintain their lifestyle." Yeah, driving a Volvo, she probably does....

I just need to hear from some of you who frequent this board and have solid opinions one way or the other on this topic.

I guess it depends on your view of the situation.

Not being privy to the whole backstory... are we sure these are illegal counterfeit purses? and not imitation purses? Just designed to look similar to the real thing?

Many names are copied and I am sure the company is not happy with it but they know it is going to happen. Just like bootleg movies. It is not right but it still gets done and that is not going to stop soon either.

<a few years ago at our ymca, a coach was fired for leaving a child who was enrolled in his class in the lobby, under the agreed-upon supervision of the lobby staff; our y feels that coaches are obligated to themselves deliver children to their parents, specifically appointed guardians, or local law enforcement. i doubt that many people on earth share your feeling that there is no obligation to supervise children inherent in pt or sports-themed settings. >

ummm..was this suppose to be directed at me?

I'm having a lightbulb moment. Since joining this board, I've wondered why misspelling "moot" as though it were spelled "mute" was an error repeated by several people. I think Rick Springfield his own self may be the source of this error. Liner notes don't override the dictionary, but I bet a lot of people read those liner notes and never thought to double check with a dictionary (why would tyhere be any reason to double check?) and have been misspelling it that way ever since.

<<>

If she attends the party at someone else's home it isnt illegal.

<<>>

Nothing illegal about owning a counterfeit purse.

<<>>

If she is hosting the party then yes that is illegal. However that wasn't what I was debating with you.

<<>>

Yes that is what I said.

<<>>

I do disagree. Her purchasing a counterfeit pocketbook isnt getting around the system. For that matter having a purse party is illegal but not even in the same league as someone frauding the govt to get assistance. I drive 5 miles over the speed limit but I dont drive drunk.

<<>>

Yes I do. Buying and owning a counterfeit purse isnt illegal, defrauding the govt is.

If you host one of these purse parties and get caught it is a very serious offense. I do believe it is a felony. If you want to buy a fake purse by all means do. However do not host or participate in the hosting of these parties.

I have done both before and would probably do it again if I wasn't interested in a food party now-lol!! I really am not worried about it as my neighbors are cops and some of the girls who go, bf's and dh's are cops.
I know people have gotten busted but that really is the least of my worries going or having a party.

If you are hosting these parties than you are participating in criminal activity and the cops that you know that are neighbors (if they know you are doing this) should be fired from their job.

The stigma is not like that where I live. People constantly have these type of parties or go into the city and buy fake things. No one bats an eyelash when you say you have a fake bag or bootleg movie. If you do not know people who have parties or sell things at work, then you would not understand that this is really not a big deal to most people by me.
