Will my child remember that I was a SAHM

It struck me today that she might not.

I was sure I was doing the best thing for my children by staying home with them (two daughters-3 years old, and 4 months old). As I was talking to a dear aunt of mine (whose daughter is a working mother, since her infant was 12 weeks old), I felt my defensive bristles go up.

She went on and on about how "If she could do it all over again....she wouldn't have stayed home....." Then she told me a story in which her ds said to her, "mom, did you stay at home with us, or did you drop us off at daycare?" She almost died when he asked her that, because she stayed at home with her ds and dd until he entered kindergarten. Granted, many kindergartners haven't formed lasting memories by that age yet...but still. It got me thinking; is this ALL WORTH IT?

She was using it in her argument against staying at home. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling that I am not using. My career lies dormant at this time. We don't have cable, newspaper service, vacations, frills of any kind, new cars, etc. because of our money situation. We are middle-class and have sacrificed SO MUCH...only for me to hear from my aunt that..."her daughter needs to work to maintain their lifestyle." Yeah, driving a Volvo, she probably does....

I just need to hear from some of you who frequent this board and have solid opinions one way or the other on this topic.

I say definately go for it if you can afford a luxury car. My dh would never buy a mercedes because he used to work for a dealer and the brand new cars were constantly in the shop getting fixed.

$1,500 to lease? That seems high but if you have gone shopping I believe it. I remember my bil telling me that he has people go into his dealership (high-end car) and pay $1,600/month without a blink of an eye.

"Can you post a link to prove that? It might be illegal to SELL fireworks where you live, but it isnt illegal to buy fireworks."

???-It is totally illegal to buy fireworks in NY state.

"So cops never have a day off? Were these cops on duty when they were shooting off fireworks? Thanks for letting me know what cops are suppose to be doing. LOL!"

??? again-Fireworks are illegal in NY state. Even if they were off duty, they are not allowed to have them.

"Wow really? I will have to let my DH that has been in law enforcement 15 years, and my brother the fireman know about this stuff. LOL!"

I believe you-lol!!

Thank you for posting that. It is illegal to buy them IN STATE. It isnt illegal to buy them and possess them from out of state. No one is suppose to sell them in NY State so you certainly couldnt buy them in state.

BAY SHORE - Suffolk police made a potentially explosive bust when they arrested two men for illegal fireworks in Bay Shore.

Police say they found $11,000 worth of fireworks inside a car and arrested the driver, 21-year-old Joseph Giorgio and his passenger, 23-year-old Daniel Minier, both of Bay Shore. Police believe the pair bought the explosives in Pennsylvania where fireworks are legal and were planning to sell them on Long Island.

Suffolk police say they got a tip from the New York City Police Department. They set up surveillance on Massachusetts Avenue in front of Giorgio's house and made the bust.

*****The suspects were charged with possession of explosives without a license and unlawfully dealing with fireworks. Giorgio was also charged with possession of marijuana.****

Even if they did NOT sell them, they were in possession and that is illegal in NY state no matter where you purchase them.
