Will my child remember that I was a SAHM

It struck me today that she might not.

I was sure I was doing the best thing for my children by staying home with them (two daughters-3 years old, and 4 months old). As I was talking to a dear aunt of mine (whose daughter is a working mother, since her infant was 12 weeks old), I felt my defensive bristles go up.

She went on and on about how "If she could do it all over again....she wouldn't have stayed home....." Then she told me a story in which her ds said to her, "mom, did you stay at home with us, or did you drop us off at daycare?" She almost died when he asked her that, because she stayed at home with her ds and dd until he entered kindergarten. Granted, many kindergartners haven't formed lasting memories by that age yet...but still. It got me thinking; is this ALL WORTH IT?

She was using it in her argument against staying at home. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling that I am not using. My career lies dormant at this time. We don't have cable, newspaper service, vacations, frills of any kind, new cars, etc. because of our money situation. We are middle-class and have sacrificed SO MUCH...only for me to hear from my aunt that..."her daughter needs to work to maintain their lifestyle." Yeah, driving a Volvo, she probably does....

I just need to hear from some of you who frequent this board and have solid opinions one way or the other on this topic.

This is just an argument that I will have to agree to disagree. I have bought the knock offs before and would continue if I had the opportunity. I bought one in Puerto Rico and you wouldn't believe how much business this man made. I have gotten the most compliments on that bag and the only way I know it is a fake is from the serial number on the inside. The entire bag is made so well and looks exactly like the original.

Of course it carries no weight, but it is at least interesting.

That's how it was when we used it.

So why have laws against such "unimportant" crimes? Simply b/c there are "more important" things for the cops to be focusing on means they should ignore things that are against the law?

Should we stop prosecuting all "petty" crimes and only focus on things like rape and murder? Where do you draw the line and why is it that *you* can determine which laws are most important?

Why do you feel that it is up to you to judge which crimes are important and which are not?

I can't imagine being jealous of not being invited to commit or watch criminal activities.

That is not my point. I would rather see my local cops stopping a drunk driver before they killed someone before raiding a pocketbook party. I KNOW they are both illegal but that is why one is a petty crime and the other is not. There are degrees of crimes, not all are the same. There are speeders on my street. Should the cops be more interested in stopping them so they don't kill an innocent child that lives here or should they be busting MaryJo because she is selling bags on her extra time?

What kind of car will he be driving? I'll be keeping a close look-out LOL. Although we probably won't cross paths too much until school starts again. I'll let you know if I see him driving downtown w/music blaring and kids hanging out the windows while zooming through the crosswalks w/o so much as glance sideways to look for pedestrians. Oh, wait, that's the MOMS who drive that way....(just one of the many reasons there is no fleur de lis on the back of my car as I don't want to be lumped in w/any of them!).

Most, not all of these woman can not afford a $300 bag so to them, this is a better solution.

I never said it was up to me but there are crimes that are just less than others. I would not put knockoff bag selling up there with murder. Like I said in another post, I would rather see the cops stopping the speeders on my street so innocent children do not get killed than them busting so and so's party. If there was a priority, the speeders should be the first to get busted, not the pocketbooks.
