Will my child remember that I was a SAHM

It struck me today that she might not.

I was sure I was doing the best thing for my children by staying home with them (two daughters-3 years old, and 4 months old). As I was talking to a dear aunt of mine (whose daughter is a working mother, since her infant was 12 weeks old), I felt my defensive bristles go up.

She went on and on about how "If she could do it all over again....she wouldn't have stayed home....." Then she told me a story in which her ds said to her, "mom, did you stay at home with us, or did you drop us off at daycare?" She almost died when he asked her that, because she stayed at home with her ds and dd until he entered kindergarten. Granted, many kindergartners haven't formed lasting memories by that age yet...but still. It got me thinking; is this ALL WORTH IT?

She was using it in her argument against staying at home. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling that I am not using. My career lies dormant at this time. We don't have cable, newspaper service, vacations, frills of any kind, new cars, etc. because of our money situation. We are middle-class and have sacrificed SO MUCH...only for me to hear from my aunt that..."her daughter needs to work to maintain their lifestyle." Yeah, driving a Volvo, she probably does....

I just need to hear from some of you who frequent this board and have solid opinions one way or the other on this topic.

Which is why people should try to buy fair trade items. Or look for that old union label.

I was puzzled too. But I think she meant to say she wished her annual income was what her current net worth is. I could be wrong- it's happened before.

My point. I'm sure that not everyone here who is slamming hazeleyes are doing that themselves. I don't agree with what hazel is doing but this goody-two shoes attitude by a few posters here is funny.

God forbid you ever become a single parent then -- Kmart and Target have been the salvation of my existence - play clothes and household goods that fit a single mom's budget are a godsend -- just not Wal mart b/c after I read 'nickle and Dimed" I never felt the same way about Wal Mart again and their corporate practices.

Don't speak for me. I don't buy knock offs that put a designers name on them -- one b/c I could care less about designers names and two b/c I think it's wrong. Of course we know we're wearing clothes that were probably sewn in a sweatshop -- that's not what's being debated here -- what's being debated is the legality of stealing someone's name and design and marketing it as your own. I don't buy bootleg tapes or download songs illegally either. If that makes me a goody two shoes then so be it.

I;m not slamming Kmart, I'm joking with the poster since I believe she is a high end shopper or claims to be. MY DD wears Target clothing. Kmarts' clothes don't wear well, so I feel as if I will waste my money buyingthere.

Even if I had your money, I wouldn't spent it on designer anything, so you can keep your links.
