Will my child remember that I was a SAHM

It struck me today that she might not.

I was sure I was doing the best thing for my children by staying home with them (two daughters-3 years old, and 4 months old). As I was talking to a dear aunt of mine (whose daughter is a working mother, since her infant was 12 weeks old), I felt my defensive bristles go up.

She went on and on about how "If she could do it all over again....she wouldn't have stayed home....." Then she told me a story in which her ds said to her, "mom, did you stay at home with us, or did you drop us off at daycare?" She almost died when he asked her that, because she stayed at home with her ds and dd until he entered kindergarten. Granted, many kindergartners haven't formed lasting memories by that age yet...but still. It got me thinking; is this ALL WORTH IT?

She was using it in her argument against staying at home. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling that I am not using. My career lies dormant at this time. We don't have cable, newspaper service, vacations, frills of any kind, new cars, etc. because of our money situation. We are middle-class and have sacrificed SO MUCH...only for me to hear from my aunt that..."her daughter needs to work to maintain their lifestyle." Yeah, driving a Volvo, she probably does....

I just need to hear from some of you who frequent this board and have solid opinions one way or the other on this topic.

Ok. hard to read inflection in a post -- sorry. I agree Kmart clothes don't wear as well as Targets and they run alot smaller but the household goods have some good bargains to be had!

I'm not speaking for you.

I don't buy bootlegs or download illegally either.

Why would you draw this conclusion? Simply because I have stated that the crime is a federal offense? That is called calling the crime what it is. For what it is worth when something is a federal offense it carries a harsher sentence than a state offense. There is no parole in federal prison. So in fact it is a lot harsher to commit a federal crime.

aren't federal prisons nicer than state prisons though? Actually, serving the crime would be more pleasant in a federal institution? Is that correct?

"aren't federal prisons nicer than state prisons though? Actually, serving the crime would be more pleasant in a federal institution? Is that correct?"

that's roughly equivalent to saying "isnt' a tooth extraction somewhat more pleasant than a root canal?"

Actually what you said originally was that ***But I guess it is safe to assume that you are still breaking the law by buying illegal goods.*** and that is what I debated with you.

<<>>

No you didnt. See post 543.

<<>>

Again post 543 is what I debated with you. There is no reference to this.

<<>

What system were you referring to?

I am with you on Wal-Mart, but it very easy for me to avoid it because the closest one is over 30 minutes away. The closest Target is about 20-25 minutes. They tend to avoid building stores within the beltway. I end up going to Target maybe 8 times a year - if that. OTOH, I live 10 minutes from one of the "best" Malls in the country and go there even less. (Macy's, LLBean, L&T, Bloomies, Nordstom, Needless Markup, Sacs.......)

Our Church is also 20-25 minutes away - and the closest of our denomination too.

Kind of funny since I live in the middle of an Urban/Suburban area -not in the boonies.
