WOH with 14 kids?

Octuplet mother of 14 kids under the age of 8 is planning on financially caring for her children without any welfare assistance.

What kinds of challenges do you all think she will face? Do you think it's possible to be semi-famous in this way and even land a job in the first place?

I think the idiot fertility doctor who implanted 8 embryos in this woman should be responsible for raising them to adulthood and paying for their college.

One of the angles that I think is odd (and there are many) is that she relies on her parents for support. The same parents who didn't give her enough love & were so dysfunctional. Yet they are good enough to sponge off of to have a house to provide for your kids & to take the money her dad is going to make by going to Iraq to work in.

The grandma sounds kind of cold saying she's not going to stick around to help raise all these kids, but with your daughter out giving interviews about how she needs so many kids so she can have a better family than (the crappy unloving one) she was raised in . . . and also the grandma begging the fertility dr. not to implant her with more kids but the mom & doctor going ahead anyway . . . it sounds like a mess that I'd be sick of too.

This whole thing is so sad I couldn't begin to sort it out. But, being a judgmental human, I will try: The doctor who implanted these embryos should be in jail and his assets sold to fund the care and education of these children, including the hiring of several nannies and perhaps a full-time nurse. The mother should be monitored by a child welfare agency and given mandatory parenting classes. She should also receive treatment from a qualified mental health professional. What she put herself through, and the lack of thought that went in to it make it clear that she is not a mentally healthy woman.

Yep.

I've tried to stay out of this, because I admit that I am extremely judgmental when it comes to folks who engage in the indiscriminate production of new human beings, but this is such a ridiculous case.

And now we find out that she actually has been receiving assistance in the form of food stamps.

I know how she's planning to do it. I saw in this morning's paper that she has a website where you can donate clothing, toys, or plain old cash--just plug in your credit card number, of course.
