WOH and sleeping issues

We were at a dinner party last night at the home of one of dh's coworkers. They have 2 boys, 6 and 4. They have a bunch of sleeping issues (kids 'scared' at night, won't fall asleep in their own bed, won't go to bed without mom or dad cuddling them, etc.) The mom blames herself because since she works all day and misses them so much she tends to cuddle with them late at night and they fall asleep in a pile on the bed all together. She said that if she SAH, they wouldn't have the same issues.

I sah. For us, bed time is a rigid, welcome respite at the end of the day. Dh has no desire to keep them up either, lol.

Actually, being in the field (having most of our friends in the same field) and knowing what struggles there are for jobs (decently paid or not) these day, we keep whispering in their ears that plumbing is a very honorable (and well-paid) profession.

Okay, here we go:

This is what I was referring to and upon second-read I realize that QM did not say what I thought she did. I apologize for the mistake.

But, I still don't think it's true (the above statement), at least not for me.

Parenting would be much more enjoyable and less stressful if you never had a hill to die on.

SM is stating that the parent is better able to judge how her kid is doing wrt outgrowing naps than a cyber stranger with a one-size-fits-all mindset.

Have you ever found anything about parenting stressful or even remotely negative?

There is no reason for a mother of young children to claim she doesn't have friends to hang out with because the people she does hang out with bring their children along. Its the fun of being a mother of young children. You know, fun you didn't qualify for as a college student hanging out with other single college students. Fun for which you now qualify. You are like the college student complaining she's unhappy with college life because its different than highschool life.

It must be so much easier to have just one child.

I'm not sure ANY child needs stimulation in the evening to the extent it might be possible to overstimulate another child.

Its your ongoing huge stress over ongoing matter of course issues with parenting that makes you different. Like a college student constantly stressing the life inhibiting qualities of assignments, tests and exams. There are always a few of those around. They don't define the student body. If they did, there would be no student body.
