WOH and sleeping issues
| Sun, 05-22-2005 - 10:34am |
We were at a dinner party last night at the home of one of dh's coworkers. They have 2 boys, 6 and 4. They have a bunch of sleeping issues (kids 'scared' at night, won't fall asleep in their own bed, won't go to bed without mom or dad cuddling them, etc.) The mom blames herself because since she works all day and misses them so much she tends to cuddle with them late at night and they fall asleep in a pile on the bed all together. She said that if she SAH, they wouldn't have the same issues.
I sah. For us, bed time is a rigid, welcome respite at the end of the day. Dh has no desire to keep them up either, lol.

I was using it as a comparison in light of your implication that anyone who gets a lot of vacation time must not have a very important job. Simply pointing out that there are plenty of careers that *do* offer a lot of vacation time-whether that is by circumstance or policy makes no difference.

Ever heard of middle ground? Good grief. I think one can have a great life without financial stress and not have to work without every taking a day off.

I think not getting a decent amount of vacation time, or not being able to use that vacation time, would be a huge downside, both emotionally and physically. No matter how much of a thrill they got out of the job itself.

Now, who is avoiding middle ground? Did she say anything about never taking a day off?

That seems rather....dry.

She was talking about knowing many lawyers who havent taken a single vacation day, ever. I said that doesnt sound like a great way to live. I wasnt referring to HER.
