WOH and sleeping issues

We were at a dinner party last night at the home of one of dh's coworkers. They have 2 boys, 6 and 4. They have a bunch of sleeping issues (kids 'scared' at night, won't fall asleep in their own bed, won't go to bed without mom or dad cuddling them, etc.) The mom blames herself because since she works all day and misses them so much she tends to cuddle with them late at night and they fall asleep in a pile on the bed all together. She said that if she SAH, they wouldn't have the same issues.

I sah. For us, bed time is a rigid, welcome respite at the end of the day. Dh has no desire to keep them up either, lol.

Isn't it great that no one is forcing you to live that way?

Just think, all this ranting in this thread about no vacations, not being willing to travel with young children and not making traveling a priority and no one is asking you to do those things. I am totally missing your point.

We never took a vacation when DH was alive. It was not our thing. We didn't suffer. We weren't limited. We still managed to have a good marriage and a nice family life. I know it is shocking, DJ, but not everyone finds traveling as huge of a deal as you do.

It's not a huge downside for many people.

Your POV is more of a blue collar one, I imagine.

My almost 4 weeks a year, plus about 11 holidays, is more than sufficient for me.

I'm actually on vacation this week, but not going anywhere. We usually take a vacation trip every other year.

I agree we know several lawyers and many are not making the big bucks, but really enjoy what they do. It is a misconception that lawers make the big bucks.
