WOH and sleeping issues

We were at a dinner party last night at the home of one of dh's coworkers. They have 2 boys, 6 and 4. They have a bunch of sleeping issues (kids 'scared' at night, won't fall asleep in their own bed, won't go to bed without mom or dad cuddling them, etc.) The mom blames herself because since she works all day and misses them so much she tends to cuddle with them late at night and they fall asleep in a pile on the bed all together. She said that if she SAH, they wouldn't have the same issues.

I sah. For us, bed time is a rigid, welcome respite at the end of the day. Dh has no desire to keep them up either, lol.

From 7am till 8:30pm when the boys go to sleep. Lifting and carrying twins and 2 active boys, I've been trying to gain 5 lbs for the last 6 months.

Then, perhaps you can explain this statement:

"And I think that doesnt sound like such a great life, to not take a vacation in years."

I certainly have a great life even without taking vacations. Once again, not everyone finds travel as fascinating as you do. Those that don't are capable of having great lives.

Shocking, isn't it?

But why would they have the time for you? They're busy doing their own things, remember?

Have you ever seen Peter Pan? Peter comes back at the end and finds Wendy has grown up. Wendy remembers their time together fondly but does not lament that she is now middle aged and married with children and can't go back to Neverland - in fact she shows no interest in going back at all. She is perfectly pleased to have her daughter Jane go do the young person thing. And to smile while watching Jane go do it. You're sounding a bit like if we were casting you as Wendy, you'd be flying out the window again.

Edited typo.

I had the same amount of time for my friends before our nanny. I did not have a nanny with the boys. Only when I went on bed rest with the girls.

Hey, good point. And why are these kids' moods so unpredictable if they've gotten a full night's sleep?

But couldn't you, conceivably, meet a friend for lunch ONE day a week. . .or every other week?

For kids, I would definitely recommend Disneyland over Disneyworld any day.
