Your job doesn't involve internet access; therefore, your response is n/a.

No, my point was your commentary was nothing more than a slam, and that you were not only implying a lack of character in other posters, you were being hypocritical. Hypocrisy always bothers me. Do you not see the irony in your finger pointing?

Does that mean you are justifying your own slamming? What about your assertion that you always post with *integrity*?

She's much younger and prettier than I, but thank you kindly for the nice compliment.

I think for our age group it might still seem a little *weird*. But when our children are adults, I bet internet friendships, dating, jobs etc will be very commonplace and accepted.

Just a shout out to everyone ...

Today, I have submitted two federal grant proposals (for almost $400K) that aren't due until *gasp* tomorrow. Gee, guess I better quit wasting my employer's time posting here and actually get my job done!

Just to name a few...

1) Investment banking. Several investment firms in my town have people on the desk by 5 am to get the financial reports from other parts of the world before the market opens in New York.

2) Medical professionals, since medical emergencies tend to happen around the clock...

3) Higher Education -- more and more classes are being offered in the evening to accomodate part time and employed students.

4) News professionals....getting the morning paper out requires swing shift work by writers and editors.

5) Early Childhood people -- we have a program in our state where new parents can work with degreed "parent educators" who come to your home and show parents how to maximize infant/toddler development and who do screenings for various conditions. Because many parents work during the day, parent educators will come in the evening or weekends.

6) Clergy

And that's just off the top of my head.

no. you are judging it as *slamming*,i'm not. i see it as an honest observation, just like observations are made about other things, something i guess i should call *slams* too?

and yes, hypocrisies always bother me,too....especially when one is called on it.

So if someone told you that you were neglecting your family by spending so much time here, you would not see that as a slam? Just an accurate observation?

And yes, no one likes to get called on it when they are being a hypocrite. Thats why its a good idea to stop and think before one starts pointing fingers.

Thank you!

That's exactly the way I see it. The day my employer magically stops expecting me to be available for firm-related activities on nights and weekends, (or decides to non-exempt me and pays me overtime for it - LOL!!) I'll magically start worrying about how much time I spend on the internet.

Until then, we don't really have "his" time and "my" time...it's all kind of "our" time, and it all works out.
