Nope no matter how you slice it, deployment isn't a choice made by a soldier. It is a choice that is made for them.

That's why people take out insurance.

Again I thought it was you that stated consequences are different than choices? So which is it?

<>

Well make sure the next time you are in an accident that you didn't cause that is your choice to drive so you should be responsible for your own car damage. This is the logic that you are using although the law doesn't agree with you.

<>

Easy words again.

You are driving.
Someone speeding hits your car and it isn't your fault.
This is a consquence of driving a car.
It wasn't a choice for you to be hit.
This was a choice of the other driver to speed therefore causing an accident.
The choice was made for you.
Even though accidents are consquences for driving, you didn't make the choice to be in an accident. The choice was made by someone else.

Sure it is. Otherwise no one would carry insurance.

No, people take out insurance on things that are unlikely but would be a finiancial hardship if it happened. If it were likely, then the insurance would be too expensive. For example, DH and I will carry life insurance for the next 15 years. It is *unlikely* that either of us will die in that time.

I have been driving and paying for car insurance for over 25 years. Never once have I filed a claim beyond a cracked windshield.

Well make sure you apply the same logic that you have here with your insurance company. Let them know that your car has been hit through no fault of your own, but you will expect them to pay for your car because it was your choice to drive therefore you will accept the consequences of someone else's choice.

Sort of like, unprotected sex is a choice that can lead to the consequence of pregnancy. Choosing to engage in unprotected sex means that you are accepting the likely consequence of pregnancy.
