I'm sorry but anyone who enlists in the military should be fully aware that there is a risk of deployment. Especially in this day and age. Even when my dh was in the military eons ago, he said they make that VERY clear.

My dh, as I said in another post, told me that when he enlisted they made that quite clear. And he was not even enlisted during wartime (although he was due to get out right as the gulf war started and almost didnt get released!)

You just dont get it do you...understandable, the programs that the public schools have are not addressing dyslexia as you claim or are they focusing on it they do not exist you cannot have a program that adresses dyslexia if it does not they avoid it.

Im glad it worked for him....obviously your dh has mild forms or he had a teacher that took the time to learn how to truly educate a dyslexic child.

My son hasn't even had his official diagnosis yet and they are doing almost all of the things listed in you link. THey use alpha smarts for all students inthe classroom, they teach phonics as well as sight words, they have books on tape in the classroom fro all students..... They have a different spelling test for DS - after the first week of school. He is getting multiple daily extra reading help- sometimes from his teacher (one on one) and sometimes from the reading specialist (one on one) and sometimes from the special education teacher in the classroom (one on one). He uses manipulatives, tapping out the words, as well as saying the words. His science and social studies tests are read to him.

Thanks for the link, it gives me hope.

Hmmm, and we are far far away from Texas. I guess Fairfax County Public Schools aren't too horrible.

Your post about accepting the risk of getting run over by a drunk driver is a ridiclous example and not comparable to signing up for working for a military service and choosing to accept whichever job assignment you are given. It shows that you do not really understand how the military system works.

Oh geesh. Are you just arguing to be arguing? Or do you really belive this nonsense you're posting?

<>

Uh yeah. I do.

<>

They are addressing it. They may need improvement, more training, a different angle, wahtever. But they are addressing it. Schools around the country recognize that dyslexia exists and that it is a real problem and are taking steps to deal with it.

<< they do not exist>>

Yes they do.

<< you cannot have a program that adresses dyslexia if it does not they avoid it. >>

Can you rephrase that? It doesn't make grammatical sense so I really can't begin to answer or rebut it.

<>

Oh sure, you can't dispute my claim that he was helped, so you dispute that he has it. Whatever. You have no clue what my dh has or doesn't have.

<< or he had a teacher that took the time to learn how to truly educate a dyslexic child.>>

But how is that possible if, as you claim, no states other than Texas even have a program and that teachers don't know how to teach to dyslexia?

Those Texas teachers carry quite a burden being the ONLY ones who can rewire a dyslexic brain.

Please quit speaking for the entire U.S. on matters you really know nothing about.

I have posted links for you that support the statement that public school are addressing the issue.

I have yet to see anything on that website that trained professionals cannot handle.
