You might have missed the fact that she didn't call the teacher that and the issue was addressed.

Oh my lord. Haven't you ever heard of sarcasm? I didn't call my husband's teachers ignorant; yesmomma implied they were because according to her they were unable and unqualified to help with dyslexia.

I've asserted no such thing.

I've blamed nothing on anyone. It was SARCASM. Dh's teachers did address his dyslexia; very well, as I stated earlier. Yesmomma disagrees and insists they couldn't have done such a thing.
Really. You need to learn how to follow the line of the debate.

IMO, if someone chooses to join the military then they are also choosing the possibility of deployment. They may or may not be deployed while in military service, but anyone who enlists does so with the knowledge that deployment is a real possibilty. It's part of the job description, and an eventuality that should be planned around while in service.
The drunk driver analogy doesn't quite make it all the way. Yes, that would be an unfortunate consequence to driving - but it is not an inherent consequence. Someone who joins the military thinking that their chances of being deployed were similar to or as random as the chances of being killed by a drunk driver is liable to be in for a very rude awakening.
For some reason this discussion reminds me of an interview I saw years ago, during Desert Storm. A young reservist was being interviewed about the possibility of being activated. She said that she was very upset at that possiblity, that she joined the reserves to pay for school, not to go to war. It had totally escaped her, apparently, that being activated and possibly deployed was just part of what she'd signed up for.
It's certainly
