Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song,
Well I decided to do a little research. I headed on over to the Military Wives board. Here is the question I posed...
I was wondering. We are discussing this on another board. Would you say that a military soldier CHOSES to be deployed? Is this something they chose or is the choice made for them? Thanks!

There is NO CHOICE. They say go, you go!! Hope that settles it for you.
They can always volunteer to go, so that would be like choosing. There are many reasons why someone might or might not want to volunteer. My dh volunteered to go on a 3 month deployment to UAE a few years ago. The main reason was so he could re-inlist in a tax-free zone (which saved us about $4000).
No one exactly "chooses" to be deployed. You can choose to serve your country by serving in the military. But there is no gaurantee as to HOW you will serve when you join. That is pretty much decided by the powers that be.
Uncle Sam says "You're going" and that's that. There is no choice for the soldier!!!!!
Still listening to those military families?
ROFL, I am one of the few posters that have NOT told you that very little of your posts make sense & you are going to tell me that:
"i dont think you really do know what you are talkiong about i think you are highly confused."
I do not blabber on about any subjects that I do not know about, so you can think I know what I am talking about or not. Whatever!
That's great qualitative data you have there . . .one of them even recognized that joining the military is a choice.
The fact remains that while a service member may not have direct control on when or whether or not they are deployed once they join the service, the ABSOLUTELY knew that deployment was a real possibility and a consequence of their choice to enlist.
And I say that as a former military spouse. . .and a former member of the board you got responses from.
WOW, excuse me...how does a man a dad out of wedlock even come close in comparision to a man OR WOMEN fighting for our country.
I think you have completley lost your vision on the POST!
Men and women who protect our contry are not comparable to others who are not.
I put thes types of ppl on a very different level< on a pedistal with the war on IRAG > in contributing to society. Your arrogance is blinding.
I appreciate that but i must be honest could really care less if many of my post's in your opinion do not make sense....not sure your pointing it out but is not skin on my nose...
I never claimed you blabber so you lost me...what exactly is your point?
