So in spite of the FACT that my dh has learned to read adn write well, despite having dyslexia; the FACT that my dh shows no discernible symptoms of the disorder today; the FACT that he WAS given special attention in school to learn to handle his dyslexia ... you still insist that no programs assist to address dyslexia.

Amazing. Really amazing.

I prefer to say that my dh HAS dyslexia as opposed to saying he's dyslexic. By saying someone is dyslexic, it implies that they ARE the disease/disordre. Dyslexia isn't something he IS; it is something he HAS.

Then you have basically said what I have said. I said Joining the military is a choice. Being deployed isn't. Being deployed is a consequence.

You are sadly mistaken. PKA has stated more than once that being deployed is a choice.

Why can't it be compared?

You CHOSE to enlist.

You do NOT chose to be deployed. It is sometimes a consequence.

You CHOSE to drive a car.

You do NOT chose to have an accident. It is sometimes a consequence.

Here is a key difference: auto accidents are something that everybody tries to avoid. When you start driving, you don't accept that you will most likely be in an accident. You accept that driving comes with the responsibility to drive as safely as possible to avoid accidents. Sometimes, despite your best intentions, it happens anyway. But it is something that a driver strives to AVOID whereas deployment is accepted (per signing up) as something that probably will happen and avoiding it is not allowed.

My cousin has a Learning disability. She is thrilled now that this is how she grew up. It was a comprehensive disability. She has stated that she developed her artistic ability due to her LD. She is now an architect and does very well.

You didn't object when it was being compared to a car accident.
