i think that's what john kerry was really trying to say the other day.......unfortunately,bush's camp beat him to the core about it without acknowledging how bad to worse it really has gotten over there!!

Of course there's a choice. It's just not made at the time of deployment. It's made when the individual chooses to enlist, thereby turning control of certain future decisions (when and if to deploy being one of them) over to the military.

No...it is a choice to enlist. It isn't a choice to be deployed.

But anyone who enlists is aware of the possibility that their enlistment could result in deployment. They CHOOSE then to give the military that control.

It can't get any clearer than that.

Expanding on your theory and explaing why it isn't the same is just taking debate too far?

Of course it doesn't change what you said. It's just more accurate than what you said.

You are right. They chose to enlist. Their consequence is deployment if needed.

When I said you are taking this too far I meant that you are putting too much into this issue. The issue is Is deployment a choice? I do not believe it is. Is driving a car a choice. I believe it is. Is being hit by another car a choice? I do not think so. I believe it is a consequence.

Then say that when you post something like that. Otherwise it is a false accusation.
