Well said, and I'll add that when I'm responsible for dd's friends, I'm more cautious than I would be if I were just supervising dd.

"Right now my dd is more interested in the bakery (which conveniently for her also sells ice cream).;)"

As you can imagine, ice cream is only appealing for a very short amount of time each year ;-). Hot chocolate, otoh.... It's been brutally cold the last few weeks.

"But you get to live in Sweden, where they have national healthcare and a heck of a lot of other stuff we don't have. ;)"

Yeah, but see...if I only didn't have such a pigheaded dh who is obsessed with nature I'd get to have the good bits of Sweden AND the cafes, shops and library within walking distance, pout. I can't really complain, though, since we've got at least 5 different bus lines that will get us to the center in less than 10 minutes. You forgot to add a rocking public transportation to the list of pluses ;-).

"Edited to add apologies for having misunderstood your post the first time. Re-reading it now, it seems pretty obvious what you meant."

No problem! This whole thread has been particularly confusing and, I suspect, ultimately mainly a question of semantics.

"That is due to the location on the globe for where we live. I can see where someone in the south may not understand that. "

Yes, that does become clear at times. I vaguely remember a discussion about bedtimes and something along the lines of how kids' sleep patterns should follow the daylight/dark patterns (i.e. sleep when it's dark, be awake when it's light). I thought that was a hoot as by that argument my kids should be sleeping about 18 hours per day in winter and about 3-4 hours per day in summer. Um, no LOL.

Yeah, lol, it's too bad you can't have it all! It sounds pretty close though.

The arguments in this thread have changed faster than my head can swivel.
