I wah and I don't get paid by the hour, I get paid for productivity. There are some weeks I work 100hrs and some I work 10hrs. I manage a worldwide wah staff that has the same accountability. It's pretty easy to determine if they are not getting their jobs done without eyeballing when they sit at their desks in their home office.
I'm pretty sure my most productive staffer averages less than 30hrs a week, while I have productive plodders who probably work 60+hrs every week. We pay them for the job they do, not the hours they put in.
In a way I'm glad we can carryover annual leave. I get 22 days a year and haven't ever taken that much. It would be really hard for me to take all 22 days in a year (just too much work to do; my time in the office would be so much busier and more stressful if I took that much time off).
My boss does write it down on her sheet if you are there everyday. I have not gotten an email saying "everyone is in" but she might do that also as the emails I get say "so and so is taking a xxx day and the rest of us are in".
IMO, that IS taking attendance. Attendance to get paid for days owed to you.
Why would she email you that everyone is in? You're not the boss, and you're not payroll.
Basically, it sounds as if your boss is doing what I said constitutes taking attendance. She is recording everyone that is there as well as those who are not.
Oh, I could easily take that amount of time-lol!! I actually took 5 or 6 weeks one year (not on maternity leave either). That is why I love that I can roll it over for those years that require more time to be taken.
We also get all of the time we are owed if we leave. I would definately try and not take much
Well, imo, showing how many days were taken and/or left for the year isn't taking attendance.
I'd love to take that amount of time. But with the responsibilities and authorities of my job, the department would severely suffer if I took that much time each year. And when I was in the office, it would be HELL because I'd be so busy playing catch-up.
And I suspect that I'd end up answering emails, processing requisitions/employment actions/travel requests, and doing damage control while I was on leave too.
