it's already been stated that there are rules and privledges that change according to the kids age, personality, etc.
I don't know that you are that unusual. I thought we were talking about practices and middle schoolers watching activities that they were not in--not necessarily just games in which the public is invited to. I'd probably let my 7th grader stay at a game if she was interested in watching it. They don't really have any at her school, they are intermural (or against other middle schools, but usually during the day) and she really isn't interested in watching any sports. The few times she has gone to a game is because a friend invited her and she went with their family. So she just has different interests.
She has gone to a couple movies in which parents don't go-she is dropped off with a friend, I'm sure the mall thing and other requests for things we aren't going to is coming.
