There was an article in this month's Working mother magazine about wrking mom's losing custody to SAHD's.

20 years ago when I was in high school kids would either ditch the school activity they said they were going to or go someplace else first and then walk back to the school. As I said, I was a good kid and never did that but many of my friends did. We would all be dropped off and they would go one way and come back in a little while or at the end of the activity.
I can't believe that doesn't STILL happen.
How would he get home though and be alone if there are no buses?
In the frequently relevant (to so many debates on Ivillage) words of Inigio Montoya from The Princess Bride "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

So you basically "assume" your son is going where he says and that he never leaves the school grounds or movies and goes elsewhere, correct?
You know every single kid your son is hanging out with after school?
I assume that about my dd on a regular basis.
Cutting and pasting again to take things out of context. I said having staff and parents there was a limited form of supervision AT EVENTS like shows and games (and you pretty much convinced me there isn't much supervision at games). As I said numerous times, I don't consider it supervision just to have teachers in the building when kids are in other areas unsupervised (unless, of course, the teachers are responsible for them and checking on them, which you've said is not the case.)
All MS and HS in our district have security guards. It's to keep the kids safe. You say your school doesn't have any problems, but many schools do. I'm glad our district is proactive instead of reactive. DD's school is a very safe place and has one of the lowest incident reports in our district. I'm happy that we have security in the building, both during the day and during the many evening events we have going on.
Yes, as I've said, I don't think my dd is ready to be unsupervised at school yet, so I'm glad her school provides that kind of supervision. Lots of MS kids need supervision.
No, kids are not forbidden from going to the library, but it's only open for a short time after school gets out (and yes, it is supervised).
I'm not going to address any more comments about my dd or her school. If you want to debate the issue generally, I'll respond to that, but I really don't see the point of playing 20 questions with you about my kid's school. Another poster below (espersons) has explained the risk of kids being unsupervised at school far better than I have, so just read her posts.
