I never did that, but I know others that did. Our school couldn't really keep track of us in high school that well, from just walking out the door and skipping class. I didn't do it often but I did a couple times. The only time I got caught was when I went to the library for research for a paper. that was a little ironic.

I did go to a high school previous to that in which it was very very difficult to skip classes. It was small and set up physically in which made it difficult. So I think supervision can probably vary from school to school.

In the frequently relevant (to so many debates on Ivillage) words of Inigio Montoya from The Princess Bride "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

And I am sure my friends' parents in h.s. trusted them too but you are still talking about kids and hanging out with others whom you might not know.

Did you always tell your parents exactly where you went and what you did?

When I was in high school, we had an open campus so many kids went out for lunch. I went a few times, walked to a deli as I didn't have a car everyday or know someone with a car and my lunch period.

How has it changed that you think kids are not getting in trouble like kids our age did 20 + years ago?

Why? Isn't your son years younger than your daughter? Is it just a gender decision or personality/maturity issue?
